The Grounds

Hocking Hills provides numerous choices for reserving a cabin for a short getaway to unwind. However, the moment visitors enter Bell Bottom Retreat grounds, it becomes apparent that this destination has a wealth of additional offerings.

Bell Bottom Retreat aims to be a haven for those seeking exploration, adventure, and relaxation within its grounds. While we are conveniently located just a short distance from public parks, stepping onto Bell Bottom Retreat premises might make it hard to leave.

Crafted to stand out as one of Ohio’s premier outdoor recreation destinations, our modern cabins, luxury lodges, and the 110 acres of pristine landscape are sure to captivate and impress our guests.

We let the grounds speak for themselves…

The Ridge

Nowhere else features a stunning 50-foot-high rock ridge that invites climbing, strolling, or simply lounging on the expansive sandstone boulders immersing yourself in the tranquil sounds of Bell Bottom Ridge. However, exercise caution, as this natural ridge has loose rocks and slippery terrain.

The Lake & Beach Area

Bell Bottom Retreat has the largest recreation lake in the area spanning over 4 acres. Fed by natural springs from below and a crystal-clear creek originating in the hills, the water undergoes natural filtration through rocks and sand.
This lake offers an excellent swimming experience, complemented by a picturesque floating dock situated at the end of Bell Bottom Retreat’s community beach. For those ready to take on the fishing challenge, trophy-sized bass await, so long as you adhere to our catch and release policy.

The community beach has over 5,000 square feet of fine sand, both above and below the waterline so there’s no gross muck squishing between your toes. Adjacent to the beach, there’s a well-shaded pavilion, offering a break from the sun and a perfect spot for lunch. Whether you prefer soaking up the sun, playing in the sand, taking a refreshing dip in the lake, or enjoying a meal under the pavilion, there’s ample space for all.

Shale Run Creek

Shale Run Creek & Little Monday Creek

The relaxing sounds of water falling over the Shale Run Creek bed will alleviate even the most stressed guests. Right by The Ridge, this creek is easily accessible. Just follow the tranquil sound of the waterfall. A perfect insta-grammable location.

One of the major waterways on the property is Little Monday Creek, which flows 14 miles to the Hocking River. With crystal clear water and river rock bottom, most of the year you can hike this creek from one end of Bell Bottom Retreat to the other. The creek provides shade, beautiful rock bottom, and the relaxing sounds of flowing water.

Trails

Bell Bottom Retreat features an array of scenic trails offering varying levels of difficulty. Whether you prefer sticking to our established paths or venturing off the beaten track to forge your own, there’s plenty to explore within the expansive 110 acres. Exercise caution, though, as there are hazardous drop-offs, similar to The Ridge, and it’s essential to avoid getting too close to the edges.
